Yun (Louise) Lu

Louise Lu is an Associate with Chan Law Group LLP. Ms. Lu focuses her practice on intellectual property litigation and prosecution, with over two years of experience in the specialty of patent law. Ms. Lu has litigated patent cases in the federal courts as well as Section 337 proceedings before the United States International Trade Commission (ITC). Ms. Lu also prosecutes and procures patent rights for clients in the technical areas of software, computer system, telecommunication, and mechanical technologies.

Prior to joing Chan Law Group, Ms. Lu was an associate of Fish & Richardson. She obtained her doctorate degree from UC Hastings College of the Law.

Prior to practicing law, Ms. Lu was a computer engineer and intelligence technology exchange coordinator. Her work included database programming as well as licensing negotiations with transnational high-tech companies and research institutes at a global scale.

Representative Intellectual Property Matters:

Certain Computer Products, Computer Components Thereof and Products Containing Same (ITC Inv. 337-TA-628) Successfully defended ASUSTeK Computer, Inc. against patent infringement claims brought by IBM related to power supplies, variable speed fans, and network address port translation.

ASUSTeK Computer, Inc. v. IBM Corp. (S.D. Cal.) – Represented Plaintiff ASUSTeK Computer, Inc. for patent infringement of storage area network technology.

Successfully prepared and prosecuted patent applications and office action responses focusing on software, computer system, telecommunication, and mechanical technologies; clients include Apple Computer, Inc., Adobe Systems, Inc., and Google Inc.

Prior Work Experience:

Fish & Richardson P.C., Associate Attorney and Summer Associate – handled patent prosecution and litigation in the areas of computer software and hardware, electric and electronic technologies, and networking devices and methods; researched on patent reexamination procedures and statistics for success.

Rich IP & Co., Summer Associate – researched and analyzed IP pricing and valuation.

National Security Bureau of Taiwan, Intelligence Technology Exchange Coordinator - negotiated with transnational high-tech companies and research institutes for intelligence technology exchange and drafted related technology licensing agreements.
